About Rusty Messer

Rusty Messer attended Southern University Law Center where he graduated cum laude and participated in both Law Review and Moot Court. He earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and he owned and operated a local office equipment company for five years before returning to law school. He is also a graduate of St. Amant High. Raised in Prairieville, Rusty has lived in Ascension Parish and in the Baton Rouge area for most of his life. Rusty is admitted to practice in all Louisiana and Texas state courts, all Louisiana federal courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Federal Bar Association, and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. While earning his undergraduate degree he served in the Louisiana Army National Guard from which he was honorably discharged. He previously served four years as an assistant public defender in the 23rd Judicial District for the Parish of Ascension and regularly works with the office of the Federal Public Defender for the Middle District of Louisiana.
